First off, some of the ads are working and you may be thinking Quicken. Quicken is okay but there is freeware [FREE software] and FREE online webapps that can help you and may be better.

I will list others soon but I just ran across this FREE financial software site called MINT!
Now it is U.S. It will not accept Canadian addresses or postal codes It has received rave reviews from Money magazine, Kiplingers, PC Magazine and received the 2009 WEBBY award for best financial website. It appears to be automatic. It will download you banking updates for you daily without you lifting a finger. I would love it if some of our U.S. friends would try it and give us some commentary on it.

In addition I will write more later about the one I use after giving up Quicken because after years of use I got tired of trying to figure out HOW to do things. It is so comprehensive, you almost have to have a course just to use it.

I discovered several pieces of software, some FREE some for a small price which work simpler and nicer and are as powerful as I need. One of them is called ACEMONEY. If you only need ONE account, no extra checking, investing or credit card accounts, the free version will suit you fine. If not the latest price is $45 but it is a gem. Often it will go on sale for a discount.

There are numerous other free and inexpensive programs which I will highlight here later.
