About
No CommentsI spent almost 35 years as an elementary teacher. During my later teaching career I started a computer business called Computerworks which eventually turned into a church media resources supply site selling to churches worldwide.
In 2006, I was able to get ChurchPower.com [now Church-Mart.com] up to page one of Google for our two most popular products EasyWorship and PowerChurch Plus.
I sold that business to my friend William [aka Wally] Dalziel [pronounced DE-EL]. However I trained him and taught him what I knew and he is doing very well at expanding that business. As part of our agreement, I was allowed to have my own site to sell from with the understanding that I would not try to take his customers from him.
I decided to study finances which I already knew a reasonable amount about having been in business since 1987 and managed very well as a single-earner family.
As I was educated financially I became quite upset that as a teacher I realized the glaring absence of even basic financial education in our public schools her in Ontario.
All you have to do is see the fall of 2008 and the spring of 2009 to know that our society knows too little about finances. And even those that do can get careless and complacent.
Looking at the popularity of money makeover shows, you realize the glaring ignorance of society about financial principles.
That is why I became a professional. As a supposed-to-be retired teacher, I work part-time helping clients to save money and get rid of financial vehicles that are taking them nowhere.
It is a source of joy when I have been able to save several people $80 – $100 a month that they can put to better use paying off debts or investing for the future.
